Anime love

March 31st, 2008 · 12 Comments

I used to watch a lot of anime since I was 12 years old. I remember my first favorite anime was Saber Marionette J. And since then, I got hooked to animes and watched every anime dubbed locally. However, over the past few years, my interest is gradually waning because of heavy workload. The only anime that’s currently airing that I watch is Bleach.

Fortunately, I had a lot of free time in the past couple of months and I spent it catching up with Death Note. It’s definitely one of the best series of all time. I’ve also recently completed watching Blood+ which is also awesome! They said it’s one of the best titles last year, and it’s great indeed. After watching these 2 titles, my love for anime grows again. ^_^

I feel like I’m more obsessed now than before. I answer “moshi moshi” on the phone, and I was looking for a Nihonggo dictionary when I went to the bookstore. Haha I’m nuts! And if you ever wonder why my hair is like this, it’s because i’m really fascinated with the anime characters ( it’s nothing emo nor f4 ^_^ )

I’ve stumbled upon this useful site which lets you organize your anime collection. You can check out the top anime series so you can have an idea what to watch next. You can also catalog the animes you’ve watched and yet to watch. Check it out at MyAnimeList.net .

Kampai! ^_^

I remember my first animie was akira which blew my mind as well as ghost in the shell. I’ve seen quite a lot of animie in my time but I think animie is heading in the wrong direction. All the characters are usually perfect looking with the chicks having huge …. One animator that stands out is Hayao Miyazaki, I’ve seen almost all his films and he sticks with his own style and never waivering. I think the best one I’ve seen was the macross plus series which was great from start to finish.

I’ve watched Miyazaki’s Spirited Away. His imagination is really quite surreal! I’m definitely going to look for more of his titles. Another one is Appleseed but I think it’s from the creator of Ghost in the Shell, isn’t it?

I’ve missed a lot of anime series in the past years. What do you recommend? I’d really appreciate it. :)

    Thanks Max! :)
Thanks for your comment Liz. Naruto is very popular but I haven’t got to watch a single episode :S I hope I can watch it too.

I’m curious why Good Smile has many figures of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, so that’s what I’m watching now.

Good Smile nendoroids are so cute, aren’t they!! ^_^

All you old geezers talking about anime is weird. Oh my god! Your all otaku’s aren’t ya?! Anyway, seeing that you like Blood+ and Death Note, I’ll made a little list of recommendations; Elfen Lied, Black Lagoon, Ghost Hunt, Hellsing, Petite Cossette, Samurai Deeper Kyo and Tokko.

    Have fun watching. ;]

    Luc,

Have you watch Fullmetal Alchemist? It is second best one after Death Notes.

There are 51 TV series, and one final movie: Conqueror of Shamballa, which is also the ending episode of Fullmetal Alchemist. The movie won three prizes in Tokyo Anime Award competition.

If you are in Singapore, I can share you the DVDs I have. Well, of all animes I have watched, it is the “best”.

    Samuel
