D40 with 50mm f/1.4D

Yup! I’m still using my 3 years old Nikon D40 dslr. But after 3 years, I need more, specially when shooting people. I recently bought the Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D lens. It’s an awesome lens. The images are very sharp. It’s just awesome! However…….it works with D40 but it just won’t autofocus. It’s very very challenging to focus manually, specially when you have a less perfect vision like me and you have to shoot your subject fast. So i guess it’s time to upgrade my Cylops (my d40′s name :P )

Finally got a hold of this photography book by Bryan Peterson! I’ve been hunting it down as this has been the most recommended beginner’s photography book. I’m super happy I found it in Riceball camera book shop at Funan! Trust me it’s not a restaurant! Let’s see where this book takes me. :)

Hey guys! So it’s been 7 months since my last post….:( Sorry bout that. My excuse? Same old lame excuse – busy, no time, tired, blah blah blah. Anyways, I’ve taken a nice shot of my favorite food in Singapore. I hope to take some more and get into food photography.

I forgot about blogging but I will never forget the…..chili crab! ^_^

Weekend Holiday in Malaysia

This is a long overdue post. Last November, my friends and I went to Kuala Lumpur and Genting Highlands, Malaysia. I didn’t have enough time to do photography. Most of the pics I’ve taken are my friends’ and ofcourse, myself haha But here’s a few shots of my trip to Malaysia.

Malaysia is just a border away from Singapore. Going there, we travelled for 6 hours by bus.

Photowalk | Bedok, Singapore Part 1

In an attempt to bring you Singapore, at least the way I see it. I’m starting a photowalk series. First stop, around the area where I stay, Bedok. This is my daily surrounding here. These shots were taken at around 9:30-12:00 AM.

To Bedok MRT.

That’s the MRT above.

On my way to the bus interchange.

Hawker near the bus interchange. Hawker is the name given to food centers housing stalls that sell cheap foods. I’ve never tried eating here before. The stalls are all closed now but usually this place is so crowded.

Every morning I queue here and wait for the 87 bus. I usually miss it and I have to wait for 10-15 minutes :P

I can see my block now! 10 more minutes to reach!

Anyway, I decided to check the park above before going home. This is around 11:00 PM and it’s quite eerie. What I like about Singapore is that it has a very low crime rate. I feel safe strolling around anytime.

It’s kinda eerie to see this empty playground. I felt like I’m in some horror films. I was expecting something supernatural to happen while I was here haha

There’s a construction going on here. I lost my way back. I have to go up again. :S Photowalk is a good exercise.

There’s also a park behind my block. After coming back from work, I chill here just before going up to my unit.

Photo walking is quite fun and healthy. I feel exhausted after this but I think it’s a good exercise. I felt shy at first because people were all looking at me. Some dashed to avoid the shot, and some are just simply posers who wants to be in the picture haha. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed these pictures as much as I enjoyed the photo walk.

Finally, I had the chance to use my tripod and my camera to shoot night photography. My first attempt is around the area where I stay-Bedok, Singapore. I’ll post all the pictures tomorrow. Because today is Saturday (woot!) and I’m going to my friends. Have a nice weekend everyone!

My New Toy: Nikon D40

I finally got myself a new camera. After all the advices, I decided to go with Nikon D40. It’s nothing grand but I guess it’s enough for a novice like me. Also, I don’t wanna spend so much while I’m at level 1. I’m still trying to figure out how to operate this and I can’t wait for the day to master it and shoot nice photos! For now, excuse my blurry shots! Haha

And here’s my first test shot (auto focus). Meet Killua!

After an hour, I realized I can focus manually haha.
